Shean -I agree, but it is a better than rushing the room 15 minutes beforehand, or camping out for an hour or two, as I recall some did last year. As a "first swipe" at improving the process, I'd view it as an improvement over the "old way". As far as timing of the email goes, that may have needed some consideration. I know that on some emails from previous 'spheres they've gone out first thing in the morning on ET, so I don't see it til after I'm up, so I can of took it as a form of payback for being on the west coast. Add into that the "internationalization" of the attendees, and the "right" time to send gets even fuzzier.

My suggestion for next year would be, send the notice a few days/a week ahead of opening of registration, like they do for the conference, then everyone's got a fair shot.

I only noticed it because I had my Blackberry on me, otherwise, I doubt I'd have gotten my choices. Having kids, I definitely understand how late 9:30 can be some nights!

Perhaps they'll take the numbers of people trying to get in as a sign to expand it next year or repeat more sessions this year. Of course room and speaker availability may rule this out.
